Top team, goal, and player from the Round of 16 in Euro 2024

The 2024 European Championship Round of 16 is over.

After two exciting matches, the first round of the elimination tournament came to a close on Tuesday. The Netherlands won 2-0 over Romania, and Turkey then shocked Austria 2-1, thrillingly clinging to its advantage.

England scored in the final minutes of added-on time to level Slovenia, France scored an own goal to beat Belgium, Spain defeated Georgia, Portugal advanced on penalty kicks over Slovakia, Switzerland eliminated Italy, and Germany needed a strong effort to beat Denmark. Other memorable moments from the Round of 16 included France’s victory over Belgium and Spain’s dominant performance.

The event is expected to continue to be as thrilling in the quarterfinals as it has been thus far. On Friday, France plays Portugal, and Germany plays Spain in one half of the bracket. The Netherlands will play Turkey on Saturday, while England plays Switzerland on the opposite side of the bracket.

However, the “FOX Soccer Now” crew wrapped up the Round of 16 and handed out accolades before the quarterfinals started. Melissa Ortiz, Wes Morgan, and Jimmy Conrad considered these players to be the best of the best in the Round of 16.

Best Team: Spain

For me, it’s Spain. total control of the team and opposition to Georgia. It broke them down. It was excellent. It scored four goals. Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal were both performing their duties, especially Williams. Williams’s solo goal, which he scored after dribbling past a defender, embodied his confidence.

“However, based on their 75% possession, 34 shots, and 792 passes in that game, they were just unbeatable. Without a doubt, they are the best squad. The only thing that went wrong in that game was the goal they conceded. But you should beat them as a team. They only need to demonstrate that they are more than capable of making it to the championship.”

Best Goal: Jude Bellingham, England

Jude Bellingham scored an incredible goal in a tight match, causing a massive uproar and causing fans to leave the stadium. The team was already in a state of panic, with videos of fans leaving the stadium. Harry Kane scored later. Bellingham’s goal was not only an incredible achievement but also a testament to his talent and confidence. The crowd was filled with excitement and anticipation for the next goal.

Best Player: Cody Gakpo, Netherlands

The Netherlands’ goalkeeper, a talented player, demonstrated his intensity and purpose in playing in their first 90-minute performance against Germany. He scored his sixth goal in nine major tournament games, including three in the 2022 World Cup and three in Euro 2024. The coach believes that, despite not consistently performing at the club level, he knows what he needs to do for the Dutch team. If they make it to the final, he will be a key player in their success.
