After a brief stint in Saudi Arabia, Rakitic joins Hajduk Split

Six months after moving from Sevilla to Al-Shabab in the Saudi Pro League, Ivan Rakitic has departed the team to sign a one-year contract with Hajduk Split.

After coming from Sevilla during the January transfer window, Rakitic leaves the team six months after making eight appearances for Vitor Pereira’s squad.

Al-Shabab finished eighth in the league despite the 36-year-old missing a significant portion of the season due to injury. He scored in his debut match against Damac FC.

Born in Switzerland, Rakitic signs a one-year contract with the possibility of an extension with the 15-time Croatian Football League winner.

After a 12-year international career that saw him make 106 appearances for Croatia, the former Barcelona midfielder brings a strong pedigree to the team.

Throughout his professional career, Rakitic has won 16 club championships. He was a member of Zlatko Dalic’s team that advanced to the FIFA World Cup final in Russia in 2018.
