Sorloth completes his move to Atletico Madrid

After a prolific season at Villarreal, Alexander Sorloth has agreed to a four-year deal to join Atletico Madrid.

Alexander Sorloth from Villarreal has officially joined Atletico Madrid in a deal estimated to be worth €35 million.

After netting 26 goals in 41 games across all competitions during his one and only season at Villarreal, Sorloth has joined Atleti.

One of his best moments from the previous season occurred in May, when he scored four goals in a 4-4 draw with Real Madrid in just 17 minutes.

After Memphis Depay was released and Alvaro Morata moved to Milan, Atleti found themselves in need of a striker.

With 23 goals in all previous seasons, Sorloth, who has 53 caps for Norway, was second only to Artem Dovbyk in terms of LaLiga goals scored.

After joining Crystal Palace in January 2018, the 28-year-old had a difficult time adjusting to life in England. He made just 20 appearances and managed just one goal. However, a loan to Trabzonspor, where he scored 24 league goals in 34 league games, gave him new life.

After that, he went to RB Leipzig. Then, in the summer of 2023, he signed a two-year loan with Real Sociedad, where he scored 24 goals in 90 games.

Diego Simeone’s team might benefit greatly from Sorloth’s superior aerial ability. In fact, he scored seven headed goals in La Liga last season, more than any other player.

Dovbyk was a different aim for Atleti; nevertheless, the international player from Ukraine chose to sign with Roma.

In addition to signing a four-year contract with Atleti, Sorloth is also in talks to join Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez.
