Dan Ashworth is adamant that Manchester United “will not rest” until standards rise

Dan Ashworth, Manchester United’s sporting director, has stated that the team’s new management would not stop until they are once again among the most successful in Europe.

Since taking on the position at the beginning of this month, Ashworth claims that United needs to accomplish more than just become a dominant force in commerce; they also need to have consistent success on the field.

“We don’t measure success by being one of the biggest football clubs in the world,” Ashworth stated in a statement posted on the United website. “The major objective is to get back to where I was in the best players on the field. Although it won’t happen right away, we’ll keep working toward our goal until we do, in tandem with [new CEO] Omar [Berrada and his new leadership group].

“It is clear that our club did not perform up to par in the previous season’s Premier League and Champions League, but our players and staff demonstrated their talent and teamwork by winning the FA Cup in a spectacular manner. We all have to work together to continuously achieve those standards.

The highly regarded French center-back Leny Yoro from Lille and the Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna are the latest additions to United’s roster as a result of their active transfer activity. A number of players have also left, including Charlie McNeill and Omari Forson, as well as Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, and Donny van de Beek, who all went to Girona on free transfers.

Ashworth observed a strong energy and determination among the players and staff upon their return from holidays, amidst several new acquisitions.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the minority owner, has come under fire and been questioned about his level of dedication to the women’s team, who will be housed in temporary structures while the training area is renovated to make room for the men.

Ashworth, who has played with Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, and the FA, expressed his commitment to women’s football, stating that it is a significant area of growth in the international game, and he wants to play it.
