Gallagher transfers to Atletico Madrid from Chelsea

The drama surrounding Connor Gallagher’s Chelsea transfer has come to an end. The England midfielder will now play for La Liga team Atletico Madrid until June 2029, leaving his time at Stamford Bridge.

An important member of Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea team from the previous campaign has left Stamford Bridge and joined Atletico Madrid in La Liga, where he will play until June 2029. After defender Recce James was injured, Connor Gallagher emerged as one of the Blues captains and made 50 official appearances, 46 of which were starts.

The England international had previously been connected to rumors of a potential departure from the team. It was later established that his role in the squad would not be significant with the entrance of new coach Enzo Maresca; thus, both the player and the club have been searching for a solution.

The Chelsea youth player’s destination at Atletico was widely known, as the midfielder’s name was frequently mentioned over the summer and eventually brought him to Madrid.

Gallagher, who was set to enter his final year in London, becomes a new Colchonero player for the following five seasons following the payment of 42 million euros to Chelsea and the passing of the physical examination.
