Official: Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United signs with West Ham

West Ham bought Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka on Tuesday for an approximate sum of £15 million.

After five years at Old Trafford, Wan-Bissaka and the Hammers reached an agreement on a seven-year contract. After joining United in 2019, the 26-year-old right-back played 190 games for the team after leaving Crystal Palace.

Although he was part of United’s unexpected victory against Manchester City in the FA Cup final the previous season, Erik ten Hag, the manager of the team, did not have him in his plans for this one.

Being back in this city to play means a lot to me because I was born here, have lived here my entire life, and know everything there is to know about London. It is expected that United would sign Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui to replace Wan-Bissaka.

After swoops for Jean-Clair Todibo, Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug, Wes Foderingham, Max Kilman, and Guido Rodriguez, Wan-Bissaka is West Ham’s ninth close-season acquisition. “I’m eager to step onto the field, acquaint myself with the players, and advance from there,” Wan-Bissaka exclaimed.

“I see a bunch of people who have stood by each other through thick and thin, who are in it together, and who will push one another to win.” Tim Steidten, technical director of the Hammers, stated that Wan-Bissaka’s Premier League background would be beneficial to Julen Lopetegui, the team’s new manager.

He could make his team debut on August 17 when West Ham plays Aston Villa in their Premier League opener. According to Steidten, he’s exactly the kind of player we want to sign while he’s at the peak of his abilities.

We think highly of this really gifted defender, who excels in one-on-one scenarios. He’s also adaptable, which is undoubtedly a plus. He has nearly 170 Premier League appearances under his belt, so he is well-versed in the league.”
