Real Madrid C. F. and Luka Modric have agreed to extend their captain’s contract until June 30, 2025.

He most recently won his fourth La Liga championship and his sixth Champions League trophy while playing for Real Madrid.

Six Champions Leagues, five Club World Cups, four European Super Cups, four Ligas, two Copas del Rey, and five Spanish Super Cups are among the 26 football titles that Modric has won with Real Madrid overall.

According to the club’s statement, “Modric is one of only five players to have won six European Cups and has the most titles in our club’s history,” calling him a genuine icon. In particular, Modrić earned the FIFA Player of the Year Award, the UEFA Player of the Year honor, and the Ballon d’Or in 2018.

Modric has participated in 534 games throughout his 12-year stay in Spain, with 39 goals scored.

The 28-year-old was thought to be retiring following Croatia’s elimination from the recently finished Euro 2024 group stage. But the football player brushed that idea aside.

“I hope to play for eternity, but I think the day will come when I have to hang up my boots.” I don’t know how long I’ll be playing, but I’ll keep going,” he remarked at the Euro.
